5 Growing Suburbs in the Hills District

The Hills District’s top suburbs

The Hills District in Sydney has grown into Sydney’s most sought-after location. High-density designations have created new opportunities for developers to move in and give the area a long-overdue facelift. Shopping centres and specialty stores ensure locals can get all their shopping done locally, and a new rail link will get travellers to the city in around 30 minutes. Future planning and development of the area will deliver new amenities, sports fields, playgrounds and parking that families of all ages can enjoy.

1. Box Hill

Located east of Terry Road and Mason Road, Box Hill is readily accessible to residents. There are plenty of options for public transport, with connecting services to Rouse Hill and Riverstone Stations. A proposed reserve will include four football fields, cricket pitches, baseball fields, and a playground, with plenty of parking provided by three proposed car parks.

2. Riverstone

Initially settled in 1803, Riverstone is one of Australia’s oldest towns. Land and property sizes are still some of the biggest you will find around Sydney. The area is also home to amenities like fitness gyms, a library, good schools, accessible child care, and banks within walking distance of the train station. The Riverstone train station provides a direct line to the city.

3. Kellyville

Stylish new developments in Kellyville are driving homebuyers in droves to the area, as is the construction of new amenities. Kellyville is one of Sydney’s fastest-growing suburbs. Nearby North Keyllville Square, plus an Aldi and specialty stores at North Village, ensures that all residents’ shopping needs are met. There are many options for dining out, plenty of public transport, and a range of parks and amenities, making it a fantastic choice for families with kids.

4. Baulkham Hills

Baulkham Hills has witnessed rapid growth over the last five years as new apartment complexes spring up all over the area. Young families will appreciate the choice of schools, and a business park provides an opportunity for local employment. The Norwest Business Park delivers local employment opportunities. The M2 is within easy reach for city workers, and buses provide fast access to the Parramatta CBD.

5. Winston Hills

Winston Hills is a quiet suburb with many long-term residents and is considered one of Sydney’s safest suburbs. A good mix of high schools and primary schools provides families with convenient access to education. The M2 bus quickly delivers passengers to the city, Parramatta, and Blacktown. Winston Mall is a shopping complex of more than 70 shops, including Big W, Woolworth’s and Coles. For more diverse shopping needs, Westfields is only a 10 min drive away.
